Terms of Use
Version of 16 October 2026. A translation: if it differs from the Russian version, the Russian one applies.
These are the terms of using KBTU App. By opening and signing in to the app, you accept them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
KBTU App is not an official service of JSC Kazakh-British Technical University and does not act on its behalf. The university's name is used only to say who the app is for.
1. What it is
KBTU App is a free app in Telegram: events, clubs, tickets, friends, timetable, campus map. We may change, add and remove features. The rights holder is Sukhrab Rustamzhanovich Nurmatov. The source code is open on GitHub under the Business Source License 1.1: you may read it and propose changes, but running your own copy of the app needs the rights holder's written permission.
2. Your account
- Your account is tied to your Telegram. One KBTU account, one Telegram account.
- To sign in you give your own real name, student ID and year. They are marked unconfirmed until your KBTU account is confirmed.
- Signing in with someone else's details can get the account limited or deleted.
- You are responsible for what is done from your Telegram.
3. Rules
In the app you may not:
- post anything illegal, insults, threats, harassment, discrimination, pornography, calls to violence;
- pretend to be another person or organisation, create fake clubs or events;
- spam or advertise without permission, deceive participants, collect money under false pretences;
- post other people's personal data without their consent;
- disrupt the service, get around its limits, or scrape data.
4. Clubs and events
- Students create and run clubs themselves. A new club is reviewed; "official" means registered with KBTU's Department of Youth Policy.
- The organiser is responsible for their event: description, place, time, safety, entry and, for a paid event, collecting money and refunds.
- The app takes no payments and is not a party to any deal between a participant and an organiser. Money goes straight to the organiser. A receipt photo is only for the organiser to check the payment.
- Claims about an event go to its organiser.
5. Moderation
We may, without notice, hide a post, comment, event or club, or limit or delete an account that breaks these rules or the law. Anything can be reported right in the app.
6. Your content
What you post stays yours. By posting it you let us show it, free of charge, in the app and in cards shared in Telegram until it is deleted.
7. Liability
- The app is provided "as is". We try to keep everything working but don't guarantee it will be free of failures, including those of Telegram.
- We are not responsible for what organisers and other users do, or for events clubs hold.
- These limits apply as far as the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan allows.
8. Personal data
How we handle data is in the Privacy Policy.
9. Changes and ending
We may change these terms; we will tell you about material changes through the bot. Using the app after that means you accept the new version. You can delete your account at any time.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Disputes are settled by talking first: message @Sowers. Failing that, in a court of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
